So, part of the reason that I got into making house shoes is because I live where it's snowy most of the year. So when you go to people's houses, you take off your shoes at the door. Only, I have this thing about going around in sock feet. As in, I really don't like it. At all. But, it's too cold and unpleasant to go around in bare feet. However, I was unable to find slippers I liked in the stores. Because, some people say, I am picky. They say it like it's a bad thing. Ha!
Anyway, I love my little house shoes. I do, but sometimes I need serious warmth. So the other night I made these:
They're made of a beautiful fawn colored velvet, with some gorgeous black lace that my sister bought for me when she was stationed in South Korea.
There are six layers of fabric in them , two of which are fleece. Toasty!
It's pretty awkward taking pictures of your own legs in boots. You get quite a workout!
There are some bows for embellishment on the back, but I can't decide whether I like them or not...
What do you think?

I love these! Can you walk outside in them? Or are they house slippers?
Super cute! Keep the bows in the back! I want a pair! Hope you'll come link up at my Show & Share party that starts every Wednesday!

ooh! I love these! They look soft and comfortable :) When I travel I take along my own house shoes as well. Besides, I always have cold feet, so I really need them!
Ayana, they have a foam insole and can be made with a slip proof vinyl outsole. So they could stand a little light outside wear. But, as they are fabric they aren't made for trekking through the snow. I am trying to learn about and source some heavier soling material. A little at a time.
Oh i LOVE these! I need to add these to my Christmas list asap :)
My cold feet are very jealous !
These are gorgeous , what a clever idea and so stylish.
I LOVE those. I need new slippers at the moment. I think you should keep the bows. They definitely add.:)

Love, love, love these! Would you be willing to post a tutorial?
The bows are a cute addition. Just wondering how your sewing machine liked sewing 6 layers of fabric? And what were the layers made of?
Never in my life have I seen ANYONE make their own shoes!!!! It is brilliant. Do you give the recipes so we can do it or do we just look at it. As for the bows, I am with you...The boots are GORGEOUS, SPECTACULAR without. These boots are the UGG but 100% better. You could go into manufacturing...but then boo, taking a hobbie into production is a huge drag...it kills the passion. I am going to subscribe by email. I JUST HOPE you have the gadget to do so. If not PLEAZZZZZZ put one on. Now I have seen your UBER ARTISTIC TALENT I don't think I can live without you!!! haha. Divine Love, Samara

Would you consider putting the tutorial for these? I would LOVE to make a pair for my daughter for Chanukkah! Thank you!!! Divine Love, Samara
Thank you, everyone! I have another design in the works. Can't wait to share it.
Samara, I actually do sell them slowly but surely on Etsy. It's just me sewing when the kids are in bed, so I have a bit of a wait. But, each pair of shoes I make is custom designed, so almost every shoe is new and different, which keeps it fun. I have considered a shoe tutorial, but they are so time consuming and I just haven't been able to get to it with the kids, and the orders and the holidays.
Seaweed and Raine, I sew up to eight layers at a time on my handmade shoes, and my machine is a good sport about it mostly. There was one needle to the eye incident, but we don't talk about it. :-)
I featured you :) Happy Thanksgiving!
Kara
